Firstfruits (Part 4)
As Christians—seasoned or new—it’s wise to walk through our struggles with others. There are many believers willing to pray and fight alongside us. Scripture commands the strong to bear with the weak (Romans 15:1) and to share in one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).
Andrius, Caedmon, and Kinsey represent those kinds of Christians. They carry Badden’s burdens, even fasting with him. They battle beside him until the waters sweep him away—his moment of baptism. Badden disappears beneath the current, and the others continue their journey, still fighting for him even though they believe he’s gone.
There are seasons when we struggle even though we’ve done everything right. We’ve repented. We’ve forgiven. The church is praying for us. We’re clothed in righteousness, growing in strength and knowledge, fasting, and even stepping into baptism. Yet Old Gathstrom—our old life—still has too many goblins. And we haven’t even faced the drake yet.
Badden wasn’t dead; he was being prepared for his final battle. There are moments when we too, should vanish for a time. Read the Word. Pray diligently. Yes, our problems are large, but we serve a miracle‑working God. Refresh yourself in the Living Water.
Badden reemerges for the final battle and defeats his brother—the drake. Badden has learned to do good. He has found justice. He rebukes the oppressor. He defends the fatherless (Kinsey) and pleads for the widow (the women whose husbands were consumed by the drake). After the victory, he breaks his fast in celebration.
The Lord can restore the years we wasted (Joel 2:25). Don’t fear your Old Gathstrom. Kill the goblins and defeat the drake. You are a king and priest in Christ (Revelation 5:10). God desires to reconcile our lives just as He did with Badden. Hence—Legacy of the Kings: Reconciliation.
“For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.”
