More than Conquerors

Genghis Khan had the largest connected land empire in history. Alexander the Great had a kingdom that stretched from Greece to India. Attila the Hun was the leader of the Huns, Ostrogoths, Alans and many more. Cyrus the Great overtook the Babylonian empire along with others during his reign.

These men did both amazing and horrific things. Some events were deemed necessary by the conquerors, but history is usually written by the winners. Their wars (for good and bad) helped shape the modern world. They were some of the most powerful men who ever lived, but there is One who greatly surpasses them.

Jesus Christ defeated an enemy that even the greatest conquerors couldn’t overcome. He defeated death when He rose from the grave (1 Corinthians 15: 55-57). He not only defeated death, but He told His followers that they will do greater works. (John 14:12).

We are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). We are more powerful than the greatest rulers in history. Through Christ, His people have strived to shape the world for better. Many churches have outreach programs, some of which, are caring for orphans and widows in their time of trouble (James 1:27). It would take more than a lifetime to list everything the Church has accomplished.

In LOTK, some of Meldon’s decedents represent Christians. They too are more than conquerors and marked with a symbol. The Symbol of the Kings was inspired by Ephesians 1:13-14. It is a sign of salvation. Meldon’s decedents were also given a special gift to fight against evil. Likewise, Christians have been given something that no power can snatch away.

"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Corinthians 15:57
