Reconciliation

Writing the LOTK series has taken some time (worth it!). I published LOTK in 2010, but I was also constructing LOTKS and Legacy of the Kings: Reconciliation (LOTKR) during my years as a teacher. While gathering ideas for LOTK, Ashley had been reconciling her relationship with Jesus.

Reconciliation has numerous meanings, but in this case, it is the process of restoring a relationship between God and man. Ashley’s journey towards Christ was birthed from a revelation of her sin and a thrist for reconciliation.

Although she regularly attended church, read the Bible and prayed, Ashley didn’t have a relationship with Christ.  After a Wednesday night church service, she came home and the Lord revealed her sins. She became a different person—instantly. I didn’t even recognize her anymore!

For starters, her interests were different. She didn’t even enjoy the same entertainment. Ashley gained an eternal mindset. She pursued Jesus but not without a price. Her obedience required sacrifice.

Ashley desired to teach everyone about Jesus (The Great Commission, didasko!). During her quest, she lost friends and family. The world tossed her aside, but she found more friends, family and even healing through Christ.

Ashley was learning to live in freedom, while I was struggling to overcome my anxiety/fear.  Her journey inspired me towards obedience, so I decided to pray a simple prayer: “Lord. Show me the things I’ve placed before you.”

I didn’t expect the Lord would answer, but He didn’t hesitate. My mind raced as Christ exposed the many things I had placed before Him. There was a costly sacrifice to be made if I wished to be obedient and possibly receive my healing.

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.”

Colossians 1:21-22
