The Journey

I was eighteen when I had the opportunity to visit Ireland. I was accustomed to traveling, but this trip was different. The World Trade Center was smoldering in New York.

Seeing this horrific attack had changed my (and many others) perspective about flying. I was nervous, but also excited about the prospect of another adventure. I considered my options and decided to leave despite my fears.

The ten-hour flight wasn’t restful. There was turbulence throughout, and I could sense a few passengers were on edge. I was relieved to finally land and reach my hotel.

The trip was wonderful! I explored new lands and visited large castles that would later inspire my writing. I took plenty of pictures and made memories with my closest friends. I never regretted my choice, and my decision fostered my passion for traveling.

In Chapter three of LOTK, the twins have different feelings once they leave home. Andrius was excited and saw himself as a victorious warrior. Caedmon, on the other hand, was nervous and even contemplated death.

These feelings represent leaving the comfort of our safe places to begin our journey towards righteousness. There are challenges that we’ll face, and some will be more difficult than others. The decision to follow Christ is an exciting one, but there may be turbulence.

Fortunately, our trials are temporary, but our reward is forever (2 Corinthians 4:17). This world is not our home (Hebrews 13:14), and our destination is Heaven. We will explore new lands and see things we could never imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9).

You’ll never meet a Christian who regretted following Jesus, only those who wish they did more. There is an eternity of joy waiting for each Christian. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:6).

"No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Luke 9:62
