The Commission
My problems should have swallowed me. Yet I was determined to overcome my trials, and I prevailed… with merit. I’m not writing this to brag. How could I? It wasn’t I who overcame, but Christ in me. I don’t claim perfection. I claim salvation.
I strongly believe the Lord did not gift me with any natural talent—except determination. I still struggle with light dyslexia… the thorn in every sentence. I can’t always see a misspelling… if I can even spell the word.
A talent multiplied by one will always equal one talent according to man, but God works on a different multiplication table. Jesus fed thousands with only five loaves of bread and two fish. If God could take this dodo with one talent and multiply it into a lifetime of purpose, then what might He do through you?
Whether you carry one talent or six, whether you feel gifted or painfully below average, the Lord delights in using the faithful. He isn’t searching for the naturally skilled, the academically polished, or those who soar like eagles. He is searching for the willing.
Moses stuttered, yet he led a nation. Paul persecuted the Church, yet millions have come to Christ through his letters. Isaiah simply said, “Lord, send me.” Be willing to do the Lord’s work, and trust He will multiply.
And now I finally speak to you—you who can spell what I could not. You who can create, imagine, build, design, sing, draw, teach, sculpt, film, or write with gifts I never possessed. Do not bury the talent the Lord placed in your hands. Do not wait for permission or perfection.
The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). This is your invitation. This is your calling. This is your moment to step into didasko through literature or another form. The road may not be easy, but His burden is light (Matthew 11:30).
Oh, how I have longed to break into traditional publishing with Legacy of the Kings. I have submitted queries and proposals to dozens of literary agents and publishers. Yet this work has been rejected over one hundred times. Yes, it hurt. It was confusing. God didn’t answer my “Why?” But I continued.
There is a hard truth about this project that I have never shared. Four books, over ninety blogs, thousands of hours of work… and no visible audience. No applause. Just silence. Yet I continue to write for the Audience of One—Christ.
We may not receive our praise on earth. We may never hear applause or shouts of excitement over our projects. But we will hear something far greater: “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
And even more exciting, there may be a multitude of others who hear the same words because you were faithful with your talents. God will multiply our works for His glory. I pray right now that He strengthens the reader of this very sentence—even before it is read. I wipe my tears as I write, but I continue.
Our passion for Christ should not go unnoticed. Be the city on a hill (Matthew 5:14). Be doers of the Word (James 1:22). Be the conqueror God destined you to become (2 Corinthians 2:14).
In all your battles—your didasko—learn to be as wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove (Matthew 10:16). And now, let’s take a deeper look into Legacy of the Kings: Justification (LOTKJ).
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."
Matthew 28:19-20
