Freedom finally in sight—smooth sailing. It was my senior year, and I couldn’t bear another second of school. Prom night was creeping up, and everyone was buzzing about the end‑of‑year awards. There wasn’t an award for “best cheater,” so what did I care? Besides, I had better plans.

My friends and I had bought tickets to a concert. It was going to be a wild night—singing our favorite songs, talking to girls, maybe even diving into a mosh pit—innocent fun, or so I thought. And then—I blinked.

My parents discovered I was planning to skip my last prom for the concert (man overboard!). They did not approve. There could be drugs… adult situations! They ordered me to attend prom instead, but I fought back. “What’s my age again—eighteen! Stop ruining my life, Mom!” I lost the battle and attended my senior prom. I was bored to death.

It was a difficult night, but my parents were looking out for me. They were trying to confront the lies I believed with the truth they knew from their own past. They didn’t want me falling into the same traps they had stumbled into growing up.

Scripture speaks often about truth replacing falsehood (Ephesians 4:25). “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11). As Christians, we use our faith—through words and actions—to cast down anything that exalts itself against God (2 Corinthians 10:4–5). Truth doesn’t sit quietly. Truth confronts.

In LOTKR and LOTKJ we discover the deceived—the puppets. Many of them are warriors who have transformed into boar‑like creatures. These warriors represent the everyday lies of the flesh, the world, and Satan. When defeated, they explode in light. Their destruction—whether by the elemental weapons or others—represents our faith exposing and destroying falsehoods that stand against God. The explosions symbolize Christ’s truth breaking through darkness.
