The Rescue (Part 3)

Nara represents a Christian in the Body of Christ. Her separation from her family (the Church) comes through a life change. She becomes detached from the Body, yet continues to grow in Christ… even learning to love her enemies (Skoth).

Healing Words represents books of biblical commentary. These books are not the Bible, but studies of Scripture. This is shown in LOTKR (Chapter 26) when Nara claims the principles of her power are derived from the Book of the Ancient One (the Bible).

1 Timothy 5:22 says, “Do not lay hands on anyone hastily.” This warns leaders not to give spiritual responsibility before someone is ready. Hasty hands can damage the Church. This is portrayed when Nara attempts to heal Barden.

As stated in a previous blog, Hal represents the God‑hating systems that send out their workers—he is the world. He embodies both the pride of life and the world’s corruption, because pride is the seed that grows into the systems that oppose God. The food placed before Nara represents the world’s temptations. She is satisfied for a moment, but her changes begin. Her transformation into a gargoyle mirrors Hal’s, because those who consume the world’s delicacies begin to look like the world.

When Hadwyn defeats Hal with Justice and Foresight, these weapons—along with Nara’s healing abilities and even Faith (Kinsey’s bow)—represent the gifts God distributes into the Body of Christ, explained in 1 Corinthians 12.

Justice represents the gift of wisdom and knowledge. Foresight represents prophecy, because the wielder is always one move ahead of their adversary. Faith represents those gifted with an extraordinary measure of faith.

Hadwyn’s pursuit of Nara reflects the Church’s prayers and pursuit of those who have drifted. His victory over Hal mirrors our victory over the world. Hadwyn’s battle for Nara was justified—hence Legacy of the Kings: Justification. But how does this apply to our own lives?

"The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.”
